The left claw is larger than the right, and both claws are maroon to brown in color with bright orange edges. These crabs usually have red to maroon colored legs tipped with white or yellow and orange antennae and eyestalks.

These little crabs are omnivores and will eat algae and leftover meaty foods in the tank. Like other hermits, extra shells must be provided for the crabs to move into as they grow larger.
